My overnight stay at the LinQ hotel in Las Vegas

Image
Yes, I went to Las Vegas for the 3rd time. And it feels like I found another home to spend vacation. My recent trip to the LV was to attend a baby dedication (baptism of my college friend's daughter). I stayed 4 days/3 nights, spent the first two days at my friend's house and the last two days at the LinQ hotel. [caption id="attachment_10347" align="aligncenter" width="270"] Waiting for my flight to Las Vegas at O'Hare International Airport (Chicago)[/caption] I've been reading about "High Roller" and seen it last December, wondering where was this place I kept on researching and found out that this is one of the world's tallest observation wheel (ferris wheel, yeah just like the Eye in London and Singapore flyer). [caption id="attachment_10348" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Selfie at the LinQ Hotel & Casino[/caption] Luckily, I stumbled upon a hotel promo for only $30/per night. Please t...

Sneak Peak: Pac-Man and Arcade Gaming inspired Restaurant at Level 257

Image
I saw this signage 'Level 257' outside when traveling from Rosemont to Schaumburg. I don't even know that this place exists until I read from its official blog, http://level257chicago.tumblr.com / that the place is already opened. We love playing Pac-Man since we're young and I even remembered that there was a burger place in Caloocan named after this game character (LOL). Also Namco games were there. I saw Mappy and Galaga - my two most fave games! Level 257 is located at Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, Illinois. My mistake yesterday was we entered Sears which is adjacent to Young Mens section exit to the mall wherein we can exit near Stir Krazy (Sowee, it's Google Maps fault!). With the theme, "To play is human" Then the entrance door welcomed us with this quote saying: "Life is like a level of Pac-Man to move forward you must keep playing" Here are some of the snapshots I took from my phone. We will back next time to play, eat and have fun.....

My U2 Innocence + Experience Tour in Chicago concert experience

Image
On Sunday night of June 28, U2 returned to the stage (the band had a 5 night gig at the United Center). I traveled 1.5 hours from my place to United Center and upon arriving the doors still closed and I saw a large crowds lining up in front of the gate and buying U2 merchandise at the truck. (Also read my pre-concert blog post here ) One of my goal on that day was to be able to capture Michael Jordan's statue. And yes, I succeeded. MJ statue is located at Gate 5 and my ticket said that I should enter at Gate 7. I also saw Blackhawks statue while walking going to Gate 7. The crowd, I mean, U2 lovers were definitely mixed of old and young people. I also saw fans wearing their own vintage U2 shirts (hardcore fans, yeah) and some even brought banners. Upon entering the venue, I was stunned with the stage set up. The "Innoncence stage" had a long platform and LED screen above. The crowd began to occupy the platform. I've read that "circular" stage means ...

U2 Innocence + Experience in Chicago - PRE CONCERT UPDATE

Image
Surprise! The moment you have open this post I would be probably preparing myself to experience one of the best concert in my entire history of fan girling and singing "i'll go crazy if i don't go crazy" wahahaha!!! When I found out that U2 will be performing in Chicago, I am praying that I can score tickets because it's really hard to purchase online with Ticketmaster especially if it's U2! I am eyeing for the first night show but in few minutes --- booom, it was SOLD OUT! Then, it was announced that the band has additional tour dates and extending their show - Applause! So, what I did was to go online and finally - scored a Sunday ticket. Unfortunately, the available tickets were slowly disappearing online (it keeps on loading until you got nothing!). Upon loading, a seat number was assigned to me in one particular section. I didn't mind how much it cost and or which section I got... I hit the magic button -- PURCHASE!!! Jumping like a kid and printed o...

Turning 30 And Still Loving Toys - Part 2

Image
Roger Decierdo's Toycon 2015 coverage continues..... And speaking of cosplays, the older crowd gamely joined as the cosplay event got underway. While there were a lot of the usual characters from currently popular franchises, there were also a lot of unique ones like the North Korean soldier from controversial 2014 comedy film The Interview. There was also a nice throwback to some beloved characters from our childhood like Princess Sarah (done by a guy) from that popular 90’s classic. Figure 11 Si Princess Sarah. Patatas na lang kulang. Figure 12 The North Korean soldier While the costumes were definitely greatly made, it was the cosplayers’ portrayals of their characters that really brought the house down laughing. One of the best was the guy who played Vegeta (from Dragon Ball Z), who came prepared with flashy special effects (actually just a guy waving pieces of cloth and moving around pieces of paper). Figure 13 Vegeta firing his Garlic Gun. Impressive special effects! Some ...

Turning 30 And Still Loving Toys - Part 1

Image
Toycon  2015 Coverage by Roger Decierdo Turning 30 is often said to be another step deeper into the adult world, a time where one has to seriously think about buying a house, a car, or deciding on a long-term business venture. And that also means getting further away from toys and other childish things. But that is not the case with some people, including myself. While we are now looking at possible property investments or preparing ourselves to embark on yet another business, we are definitely not giving up our action figures, dolls, and other toys. And we are definitely always looking forward the annual Toycon. Now on its 14th year, the Philippine Toys, Gaming, and Collectibles Convention has regularly attracted not only young people, but also those who have already gone past that category, yet still wanting to have some kiddie fun. And this year’s Toycon is no different, as it is packed with a lot of things to have fun with. As always, superheroes were there to greet the adult popu...
