Ken Chu Solo Performance - Liu Xing Yu (Meteor Rain) at Star Festival

F4's most popular song, Liu Xing Yu (Meteor Rain), has been sung solo for the first time since the song's release in 2001. Usually sung by at least 2 members of the band, or just 1 member but as a duet with another artist, Ken Chu for the first time sang the song solo in the song's (and the band's) 16-year history.

My Christmas Wish List 2017

Image
It's 12 days before Christmas and I know everyone is still undecided what to buy for your family and friends. Are you the type of person who has a huge list and should not missed anyone? Or someone who already bought gifts during the black Friday sale? Or someone that doesn't care at all?

I'm actually listing down stuff that I want to buy this holiday season. Not because I want someone to gift me but I just wanted to make sure that I wish to get most of them before end of the year. The Holly Jolly Market and Christmas Tree Lighting 2017

Image
I love Fall-Winter season because it's the time of the year where we get together and even the nights get so cold, we feel very grateful for everything we have and a perfect time to attend some holiday festivities in my area like The Holly Jolly Market and Christmas Tree Lighting in Village of Niles.

The annual tree lighting ceremony was held on November 25, 2017 (after black friday sale madness!) at Oasis Fun Center. There were outdoor and indoor activities to choose from:

Indoor: had food and beverage for purchase, local vendors selling different variety of goods, mini concert and meeting Mr & Mrs Santa Claus.
Outdoor: DIY smores, check out the Niles Free Bus Holly Trolley, riding the trackless train for kids and animals at the petting zoo. You can also purchase hot roasted nuts and popcorn outside.

Before the actual ceremony, there's a holiday performance by the Willows Academy Chamber Choir. I love their sweet and angelic voices and they really captured the audience'…

Mission Accomplished: Meet the Cake Boss

Image
TLC Festival 2017 happened on November 4th. If I'm not mistaken, it was the third year of the said event. I went the first year, skipped the next, and went again this year. Both times I attended, I had only one purpose: meet the Cake Boss himself, Buddy Valastro.

I wasn't successful that first time because I went too early and got so bored, so I left before Buddy Valastro made an appearance. Don't mistake the event as boring though. There were a lot of booths there that offer different workshops as well as stores and kiosks. I managed to snag a spot on the calligraphy workshop but failed to get on the pottery class. After the workshop and going around, I got bored and sleepy (I haven't slept that day yet) so I left and went to my aunt's house that's nearby the Bonifacio High Street where the event took place.

Flash forward to the event this year, I'm now armed with the knowledge that I might get bored since I didn't sign up for workshops this time, I we…

Jackie Chan's The Foreigner

Image
I enjoyed watching movies in the cinemas or at home and sometimes I recommend good movies after watching them by posting to my Facebook account. I rarely write a movie review because I am not good in storytelling or giving out spoiler alerts. So, don't raise your eyebrows if you read this one. I just said, I am just a happy moviegoer.

I just finished watching Kung Fu Yoga in Netflix when I browsed Facebook and saw that Jackie Chan has another movie. Kung Fu Yoga is a typical martial arts-nerd scientist-comedy flick so I'll just skip reviewing it :) Let's talk about, "The Foreigner" which Rotten Tomatoes gave a high score and most reviews online were outstanding!

The movie is actually based on the novel, "The Chinaman" when a Chinese London Businessman named "Quan" had to revenge to give justice for the murder of his child who was a victim in a bank bombing. The first few minutes of the film describes a happy father-daughter relationship. His dau…

Hello Kitty Cafe Truck: Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Illinois

Image
I missed the Oakbrook schedule in Summer and I am so happy that the Hello Kitty Cafe Truck has another schedule this Fall somewhere nearby us! We lined up as early as 8 am to purchase official Hello Kitty merchandise and yummy treats! The truck arrived early to set up their menu and non-food merchandise outside LL Bean in Old Orchard Mall in Skokie, Illinois. The weather on that day was a bit cold!

Hello Kitty fans from different areas drove couple of hours just to purchase Hello Kitty themed items starting from snack items like bow shaped bottled water, Hello Kitty cookies, 4 small pieces set of cakes and macarons and merchandises like shirt, mug and tumbler. The items sold out quickly so I suggest you get there about 2 hours earlier.

I compiled all photos and videos and created a videos. Thank you for watching!

An Office Visit to Project T Solutions

Image
If you ever had a home-based IT job, you must have experienced some technical difficulties that rendered you unable to work your tasks.

Maybe you've experienced a power outage at one point in time, or maybe the internet connection slowed down or even busted, or worse, your medium in getting the job done crashed.

Working at home meant you won't be able to interact with people, which can get boring sometimes, having no one to talk to. Working at home sometimes mean you have to endure summer's sweltering heat, but sure you'd be lucky if it's raining because you won't have to leave the comfort and safety of your own home. But the again we'd go back to the discussion of technical difficulties the rainy day might bring.

Here to save you from that dilemma is Project T Solutions, a workplace away from your workplace. To describe them simply, they are like a hotel for your office. They can provide you what you need just so you can get your work done. They provide co…

Host your next meeting or business seminar at Project T Solutions

Image
I love attending on site seminars and virtual conferences. Some seminars I attended were mostly about Digital Marketing or Business Development and those were hosted off-site and online! I wanted to feed my brain with interesting subject matters and interact with resource speaker through questions and answers. I even helped providing a slide presentation for a SEO basics seminar in the Philippines because I am so comfortable sharing my work experience to those who would like to learn about website optimization.

One of the goal at the end of each seminar is to provide you a good experience. I had one bad scenario when attending a virtual seminar where I heard loud noises at the background and the seminar was hosted on a computer shop! I hardly understand the discussion and ended up hanging up leaving the conference to my disappointment. So, make sure you have rented a good and quiet venue for the attendees to enjoy the entire program. You don't want them to leave a bad feedback on …

Finding a good virtual office in Metro Manila

Image
As we enter in digital age, work has been changed transitioning from traditional office spaces into the existence of a virtual office. Work-from-home or homebased jobs are on demand, freelancers get a chance to rent a virtual office and small business don't need to spend much in setting up their company office.

What is a virtual office and how do you find a good virtual office?Virtual office offers a complete package of office address, phone answering machine, courier services and conference rooms. In setting up your workspace to different locations, you can rent a shared office space or suite that you can lease for hours, weekly or monthly basis.

Having virtual business offices will allow you to have more flexibility on your day to day operations and providing you a business address when communicating with your clients and customers. For individuals or small business owners, it is recommended to use a business address for delivery and package services or mail-forwarding services t…

Journey to the top - Gateway Arch in St Louis, Missouri

Image
It's my nth time traveling to St Louis, Missouri and this time we stayed at Hampton Inn - St Louis Downtown at the Gateway Arch. It's a walking distance from the hotel going to the Gateway arch and nearby establishments like restaurants, sports and entertainment venues like Busch Stadium, Dome at America's Center, Scottrade Center. Also, the hotel is accessible to public transportation like buses, trains and taxis.

I booked a deluxe queen room for two nights and we really enjoyed the amenities offered by Hampton Inn. The room has everything you need like mini-fridge, coffeemaker, free Wi-Fi and FREE BREAKFAST! The hotel also has perks like business center, fitness center, heated indoor pool and game room. Unfortunately, they don't have a restaurant inside but there's a bar adjacent to the hotel. For snacks and beverages, there's a kiosk in the lobby side area and a microwave oven to reheat your food.

Touring Downtown St Louis is very easy. We learned that you c…

117th Annual Feast of Maria SS. Lauretana - Italian Festival in Niles,Illinois

Image
One of the oldest festival running in the Chicagoland area is Maria SS. Lauretana or mostly know as "Volata" or "Flight of the Angels," some also called one of the largest Italian festival, a tradition held in Chicago by Italian-American community.

The festival takes place on Golf Mill Park in Niles over Labor Day weekend, a four day event of religious feast and entertainment.

It was my first time to witness this 117 year old tradition and one of the festival highlight is the Flight of the Angels and a group of men will carry the Vera (an old wooden altar with Virgin Mary) and pulling of a large ship during procession.
At the end of the procession, two young girls dressed like angels will fly over the crowd (both are tied and secured to fly high above) and will offer a prayer (Italian religious song).

In 1600s, an image of Virgin Mary was looted by pirates. While traveling to Sicilian coast, the pirates found the painting in a barrel. Because they believed that the…

The popularity of serviced office in the Philippines

Image
Many businesses would often want to get global, even it if it might cost quite a lot. After all, they often said that it is better to expand their business within their target location. But does this really mean that there is no worth in expanding the business without hurting their budget?

The answer here is, surprisingly, a NO. You see, there are actually a lot of advantages that you can get when you expand your business and be successful. Here are some of these reasons that will likely convince you why renting serviced office space is the best option for your business.

Perhaps the most obvious reason to hire a company that offers serviced and co-working space is the cost. Many of these companies often have rates that are 30-50 percent lower than their larger counterparts. And many of these can actually produce work that is at par with larger corporations. Also, you might be surprised that a large portion of the the cost that you are paying to large companies actually stems out from …

Not your ordinary cup of tea

Image
I received a registered mail from the Philippines! It was sent in August probably the US customs checked the contents because the envelope was slightly opened and am thankful that the stuff inside was completely intact and unharmed.

I am so excited to try the tea samples that my friend gave me. I really love tea and I love the "animated" designs of these tea packets! These are really different teas from what I heard from my friends because these are made of blended flavors so you'll be impressed when you taste it.

Karel Capek, an Original tea blend created and mastered by Utako Yamada. From what I read from their Facebook page in One Tap Lifestyle, Utako Yamada is a popular illustrator/author of children books and she was inspired to "invent" different flavors of tea. Aside from that, the designs of each tea packets captured the hearts of many female tea lovers -- like me! I also researched online that she also designed a merchandise for Sanrio (I still have to …

RoyAnne Camillia Couture - Gown Review

Image
I got my gown made by RoyAnne Camillia Couture for my cousin's wedding next week. RoyAnne, the designer, was so nice and friendly and accommodating as well as her staff. I now have a boutique to go to should formal events come my way again.

Their gowns range from P6500 for short gowns to P9500 and up for long gowns which is really inexpensive considering the intricacy of their designs. The gowns come with a clutch bag too! Bridal gowns start at P30k, I THINK.

And from what i saw from my last visit, there's a robe and clutch that comes with the bridal gown. They also have gowns for rent, of which fees i do not have knowledge of, but i can assure you those rental gowns look amazing.

If you want to standout without upstaging the bride, RoyAnne Camillia Couture is your go-to designer. If it's any other party, you can rest yourself assured you can be the belle of the ball without trying.

No tiis-ganda with this one. You can be comfortable while being your beauty queen best.

Summer in Chicago Part 2 - Jurassic World The Exhibition in FieldMuseum, Chicago, IL

Image
I have won (1) complimentary ticket to see Jurassic World The Exhibition at the West Gate of Field Museum. I am very excited to see the big animatronic dinosaurs and experience the prehistoric world inside the tent exhibition.

The entrance was we're supposedly traveling on a boat crossing the island Nublar wherein the Jurassic World exhibit was located. We were welcomed by a park ranger and the huge door (like in the movie!) opened and our adventure started on getting up close and personal to prehistoric dinosaurs that really roars so loud and recreating a petting zoo for those who would like to touch them.

Our favorites Velociraptor and Indominus Rex were enormous and these two creatures were too scary when they started to roar! We were warned to stay calm and safe because these two are being out of containment! It's more like a mini action scenes and you'll be surprised!

The exhibit has state of the art effects and TV monitors narrated by the park ranger guiding you ever…

Summer in Chicago Part 1 - Visiting the new Nutella Cafe in ChicagoDowntown

Image
Are you a Nutella fan like me? If yes, then you'll enjoy reading this first part of my blog post. We visited the first standalone NutellaCafe in Chicago along Michigan Avenue and Lake. The cafe is owned and operated by the Nutella makers, Ferrero USA. We have been to Nutella kiosk in Eataly (Ohio Street Chicago) and this is much different because the cafe menu has sandwiches, salads, fruits, gelato, coffee, crepes, muffins and a lot more.

The entrance door is shaped like a Nutella jar, you can easily see the signage from outside because of its color combination of black and red in "Nutella" logo and white background. There was a line outside and slowly moving towards the counter where you can see the menu and their busy open kitchen. They are also giving away menu brochures so that you can decide on what to order. My agenda on that day is to taste their Nutella gelato because am really a big fan of gelato!

From breads, oatmeal, fruits and crepes - everything has a Nutel…

According to their announcement on their Facebook page, it was clearly stated that "FIRST 80 CUSTOMERS" can enjoy their limited offer. I don't think there's a miscommunication on this because it was specifically written on the page about the mechanics:

On our 8th anniversary (August 28, 2017), first 80 customers can …
