Festival Polonaise 2017

We love attending summer events and this time it's by our neighborhood!

Festival Polonaise is a weekend event to honor the local Polish community and share their natural heritage of Polish arts and culture, food and tradition.





The event takes place in Golf Mill Park - Niles , Illinois and the attraction includes: commercial booths (clothes, accessories and sponsors), amusement park for the kids, medical station for free blood pressure check and health advice, art exhibitions, stage for entertainment and what I love most - the food booth!

Discovering Polish culture:

1. They love folk music and live entertainment.
2. My first time to taste their food: Potato pancakes, Polish sausage, Polish dumplings (Pierogi).
3. According to the Polish Network website - The Poles are 22,3% of the population of Niles.
4. Famous Polish people were: St Pope John Paul II, Marie Curie, Frederic Chopin and a lot more.

Celebrated every 31st of December in Barangay Santolan, Pasig City. Pakalog Festival is one way of welcoming the upcoming year wherein people from the barangay (Santolenos) gathered on the streets and celebrate the new year with sharing foods, party games and loud music. The parade was held in four-o-clock in the afternoon and all residents have seen Santolenos band followed by different groups of social communities and the most awaited 'lechon' carried by people.
