Journey to the top - Gateway Arch in St Louis, Missouri

It's my nth time traveling to St Louis, Missouri and this time we stayed at Hampton Inn - St Louis Downtown at the Gateway Arch. It's a walking distance from the hotel going to the Gateway arch and nearby establishments like restaurants, sports and entertainment venues like Busch Stadium, Dome at America's Center, Scottrade Center. Also, the hotel is accessible to public transportation like buses, trains and taxis.

I booked a deluxe queen room for two nights and we really enjoyed the amenities offered by Hampton Inn. The room has everything you need like mini-fridge, coffeemaker, free Wi-Fi and FREE BREAKFAST! The hotel also has perks like business center, fitness center, heated indoor pool and game room. Unfortunately, they don't have a restaurant inside but there's a bar adjacent to the hotel. For snacks and beverages, there's a kiosk in the lobby side area and a microwave oven to reheat your food.

Touring Downtown St Louis is very easy. We learned that you can purchase a $2 all day bus pass that goes around the city. So, we planned our destination and maximize our time to walked to different places like parks, museums and shops.

We had our dinner at Drunken Fish - a Japanese restaurant at the Ballpark Village St Louis

Our main agenda is to visit Gateway Arch - which is a MUST to do and I never tried during my past year visits to St Louis due to weather condition. We purchase our tickets in early morning because the time slots were selling pretty fast! We got to reserve our 6pm time journey to the top.

The Gateway Arch is a 630 foot monument made from stainless steel and built in the form of an invented weighted catenary arch. The tallest man-made monument in the Western Hemisphere and Missouri's tallest accessible building in the history.

Inside the underground visitor center has souvenir shop and theater wherein you can watch the history about the arch. Visitors need to fall in line to ride the tram going up and down in the observation deck. Each tram capsule can accommodate 5 passengers. If you are Claustrophobic or Acrophobia (like me sometimes!), you should not continue and stay elsewhere! LOL but I bravely conquer my fear of heights even though my knees were shaking when we reached the top.

You'll enjoy the Mississippi River and the fantastic view of Missouri. Other attractions in the area are Old Cathedral Museum, Riverboat cruise, and Old courthouse.

I also uploaded a video for you to enjoy St Louis!

My trip is not complete unless I go shopping to the Outlet Malls in St Louis.

And I took home this yummy frozen custard! I wish I brought larger cooler bag!!!
