Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo

Philippines Hip Hop Royalty DiCE&K9/ MOBBSTARR is the first Hip Hop group being recognized and given a special honor and an "Ani ng Dangal" award from Philippine President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for showcasing exemplary performances, and for upholding Filipino artistic excellence in the international stage.

DiCE&k9/MOBBSTARR was selected for winning “Best Hip Hop Act” for AVIMA 2009 (they tied with Thaitanium from Thailand) held at Malaysia by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) as one of the recipients of the Philippine International Arts Festival (PIAF) with this year’s theme “Ani ng Sining”.

The award ceremony was held at the Rizal Hall of the Malacanang Palace in Manila last February 26, 2010, where they shared the same recognition with other recipients from the field of music, film, multi-disciplinary arts, visual arts, dance and literary arts who garnered international awards and prizes from November 2008 to November 2009.

The second “Ani ng Dangal” is organized by the NCCA through Executive Director and PA on Culture Cecile Guidote-Alvarez, Chairman and DepED Undersecretary Vilma Labrador, with Shirley Halili-Cruz in charge of the closing ceremonies. The event is in line with celebration of the National Arts Month in February, as per Presidential Proclamation No. 683 in 1991. The awardees accepted a trophy designed by Dr. Abdulmari Asia Imao, National Artist for Sculpture.

PIAF is a month-long and nationwide activity that aims to promote Philippine culture and the arts, highlighting the empowerment of the Filipino creativity and imagination. This 2010 celebration will be a call to hope, a challenge to act, an invitation to commit, a celebration of creativity and an affirmation of the Filipino’s inner strength that can be a catalyst for social transformation.

DiCEk9/MOBBSTARR is formed by DiCE (emcee, producer, composer), Hi-C (vocalist) and Klumcee (emcee, producer, composer). The group is set to release a new album – a compilation of their hits and brand new tracks sometime 2010.

Hi-C, on the other hand, recently released her 1st solo album “Body Talk” featuring the singles “Physical” and “Ibigay Mo”, a collaboration with Kenyo’s second single “Simulan Na Natin” and soon to star in an indie-film set for international competition.
