Apl.de.ap has brought Filipino culture into the Black Eyed Peas. He has influenced his bandmates into the Filipino culture and tradition due to his Filipino roots still being intact despite having spent most of his life in the USA. In every album of the Black Eyed Peas, there is at least one song by apl.de.ap that gives a nod to the Filipinos, the Philippines and his life story. He has been known to collaborate with fellow Filipino-Americans making it in the Hollywood scene. Proof of that is the music video of "The Apl Song" (from their 2003 album Elephunk), of which tells of his humble beginnings in the Philippines to making it to the American music scene. The video featured cameos of Fil-Ams Dante Basco (Hook, Take The Lead) and Chad Hugo (from the group N.E.R.D.) among others.
