Ipanema goes for comfort and color with Lyle Ibanez’s Resort Wear Collection
Manila, Philippines — Maverick designer Lyle Ibanez joins the Philippine Fashion Week last October in a Resort Wear Collection inspired by Ipanema.
As one of the country’s top flip-flop brands and fashion staple, Ipanema stands for everything light, sensual, and tropical—the soul of Lyle Ibanez’s collection. Combining his personal style philosophy and inspiration from his travels, Lyle is completely drawn to color.
“My collection for this season is all about summer: clothes that transcend from day to evening, it's structured yet it's soft. I went crazy with colors this season from pastels to bright colors, lots of interesting silhouettes and rich fabrics like silk dupione and silk chiffon and jerseys,” tells Lyle. He admits to being a shirt and jeans person, who still fancies shorts and crisp linen that go perfectly with Ipanema flip-flops.
People have come to know Lyle as a versatile designer who can bring hard and soft fabrics together, be daring, classy, or totally downtown. Last 2008, he launched a collection that popularized short shorts for men; and earlier this year, he created milestone pieces that wowed a lot of fashionistas.
Lyle’s collections have graced the Philippine runways for a decade, constantly innovating, keeping attuned to the changing design inclinations of the public, while remaining just as passionate and inspired as he was before.
Joining Lyle in the Ipanema show are other designers Catherine Cavilte, Anothony Nocom, Dave Ocampo, and Raoul Ramirez. “Philippine Fashion Week is getting bigger and better every season. It's a great avenue for us designers to showcase our collection and I am very happy and proud to be collaborating with Ipanema, an equally fashionable brand,” he adds.
Flip-flops have gone from being the default footwear for a lazy day to a valuable accessory and fashion must have. Ipanema flip-flops give a new twist to traditional sandals, as you can see sexy thongs, printed soles, vibrant colors and designs reminiscent of Brazil’s exquisite sceneries and beaches.
